First steps
Meet Renée Bino and Erzsébet Weber. They jointly founded Queen mum in 2002. Having worked for a boss for many years, it was their dream to set up their own maternity clothing brand. The answer came in the form of Queen mum, a hip brand for modern mothers-to-be. A Queen mum collection was designed, with the main accent on enabling expectant mums to feel fantastic and beautiful. With commercial and creative talent at the helm, Queen mum was destined for success.What's more, thanks to their wide network and experience in the maternity clothing industry, Renée and Erzsébet were immediately able to convince many clients of the new brand’s potential. Within a year, they had not only taken the Netherlands by storm, but exports to other European countries had also taken off. Now, almost 10 years later, Queen mum is represented globally in more than 20 countries.
Dynamic entrepreneurial spirit
Despite its fast growth, Queen mum has always been a relatively small company. The unbridled passion and pleasure that Renée and Erzsébet took in the company at the beginning have never disappeared, and they are still as involved in the whole process as they were in those first years. Renée and Erzsébet find that this way, they can work more dynamically and respond more quickly to trends. Having personal contact with clients is very important, as is personally inspecting the quality of the factories in which clothing is produced. This is what sets the company apart from the rest; certainly in an era in which everything happens at breakneck speed and the distance between people is increasing. The company’s vision is clear: partnership is a source of strength. This vision has been translated into the close relationships that the company enjoys with business contacts throughout the world; people with whom they have collaborated intensively from day one. From designers to manufacturers, but also loyal and satisfied clients who know exactly what the Queen mum customer wants.
A discerning eye
Queen mum stands for high-quality materials, the perfect fit, and light, comfortable designs. Maternity clothing is worn intensively for a few months, so using delicate fabrics is out of the question. Queen mum therefore makes its own fabrics in partnership with renowned factories. The result: strong jerseys and exquisite knits. Of course, everything is produced with an eye to creating a good world for all, and the emphasis lies on terms such as ‘local’ and ‘small-scale’. The fact that many items by Queen mum are also worn post-pregnancy shows that women feel great in the clothing.
